Just tiled a kitchen and the customer has ask if I would be interested in painting her lounge so I thought why not have not got much on ,and there is a few other trades nicking tiling jobs out there,so I have just been and got all the paint it will make a change.

My ex father inlaw had his own painting company and offered me a job when I moved here and like Sir Ramic I do not like painting at all and told him so. He said is it because you don't like it or because you're no good at it and I fed him the old line If you can pee you can paint. That was 8 or so years ago and he still brings it up every time our paths cross.

Yeah - you wouldn't believe it, I put a quote in for this painting job and the tiler who's currently doing the bathroom has been asked to do it.

I bet he uses plastic handled disposable paint brushes and Aldi paint!

Id be scared of doing a substandard job! + dont like painting....only reason I tile is because im passionate about it, if i wasnt then there is no way i would tile...too stressfull!

I don't think anybody is entitled to work and if yon can offer a professional service then go for it. If you can't then you're no better than the bodgers out there taking on tiling work they can't do.

Out of curiosity what paint did you buy and from where?

:lol: I enjoy painting, vent college (plastere,painter/decorater, tiler) for two years. Did some spray painting on windows, doors etc. Some times take on bigger projects, but only let my guys do first coats on walls and woodwork, and do final coats my self. Allways use Dulux paint and good quality paint brush (purdy, hamilton perfection)

Thats quality.....The first job i was on the clerk of works would'nt allow any rollers, all emulsion work was 7" distemper brushes including cutting in with them.....

My late dad taught me to wallpaper, he was a stonemason, and a bloody good paperer!!!!! It takes time and effort and care for a good finish as with tiling. So I generally do a good job, but only for friends as I'm a tiler not a decorator.

Got it all from Brewers which if you have not got one in your area are Trade paint stockist love painting so its a bonus a few brushes a can of paint beats humpimg heavy boxes of tiles about for a few days,If work is slack and youve been offered work you would be stupid not to take it on,if you know you can do then go for it,at the end of the day the bills need paying.
