if you could see in to the future of tiling

ive worked on no fines houses and their a nightmare to extend and alter

the whole idea was that they wouldnt crack in a fire

they stopped building them after a while :hurray:

Think this will be more for commercial works, car showrooms, supermarkets, etc, not sure for domestic market, i have seen it done, looks good but not in my house.

I know Tesco have signed up to it and a couple of the big DIY sheds are looking seriously at it as an alternative to powerfloated concrete so yes it is in the commercials however I get loads and loads of requests from the domestic sector for polished screeds and concretes particularly over underfloor heating. Probably at least 1 or 2 a month over the last 12 months. The architects also like the idea so I do think it will catch on in the smaller end of the market. I don't for one second think it would take over from tiling but it will certainly eat into it a bit.....I have seen some really bad polished concrete in the past but the technology has moved on and some really high quality finishes are acheivable now. This the latest prestige job done was Jamie Olivers new restaruant in London....

Like your world Sean lol

How a about a robot who i walk behind and tell it what way to lay the tiles.then i upgrade it with new software so i can leave it in a bathroom to tile to a perfect finish.oh i would pay a mortgage for one of those........

the future of tiling should be....

1. the return of recognised apprenticeships
2. substrate boards/materials that retain heat and dont absorb water
3. expoxy products that spread like margarine
4. rubi, montolit & sigma to make the ultimate tile cutter that everybody loves.. lol
5. oh and www.tilersforums.com ...........

yes no fines houses, bought one , a three bed semi last year £69,000 worked on it in between pools, gutted re did everything+ gardens front-back and pebble-dashed it over, all my/wife's work sold for £1011,000 did accounts it only cost 9,000 for materials it was a pain in the, when doing windows and things, because it's like a honey come structure with no fine particles between

Loved to see the cowboys wrangled out. You know the side of the vans that are sign written.
''Mow your lawns, do your plastering, block pave your patio, fit your bahtroom, do your tiling etc.....''.
Like to see more credability given back to our trade. Wether through legistlation or not I'm not sure. but nearly every where else in the world, you can't just buy a cutter and some trowels and call yourself a tiler.
