ok,ok...... it seems that the concesus of Have recentlyopinion is in favour of tiling panels ! I got to agree that a removable panel is fine. The problems come when the entire panel has to be removable. supporting framework has got to be substantial to counteract the tendency of plywood to bow. Last panel I used Wedi board...may have found the solution........

I have used Lux and Wedi board. Has Hardibacker got the same cross section and construction ,or is it something completely different ?
 
Hardie is very similar to the old asbestolux...but obviously no asbestos..unlike the others it has no insulation wafered,it is purely cement board...totally waterproof ....Gaz
 
Came across a sheet of cementious board once...it was HEAVY,bowed and would not flex. I assume that this description does not apply to hardibacker?
