Hi

I am installing 10mm porcelain on walls and the client wants mosaics inset. i have tried laying these but they are between 6-8mm thick and I struggling to get the face of the tiles flush. Tried using more adhesive but it just oozes through the mesh and joint and looks naf. Any advice / help would be appreciated.

Also, purchased a Sigma 3BM for this job. Cuts beautifully and for a beginner like myself is a pleasure to use. The cuts are very good but in certain areas I need to dress/ polish the edge. I am looking for a dressing stone for this but cannot find one anywhere. Can anyone dirct me to site that sells these? Also need a pair nibblers with the tungsten wheels and good drills for porcelain. Any sites recommended where I can get these at the best rates? I purchased a set of Porsadrills but I am still struggling to do the job!

All help / advice appreciated.

Many thanks.

Diamond Pool Finishers

Hi

Thanks for the web site direction. Regarding the mosaics; the issue I have is that the mosaic sheet is at least 2/3mm thinner than the 10mm porcelain. Is there any method of padding the sheet out level with the the face of the porcelain without using additional adhesive. The more adhesive I use the messier it gets.

Any suggestions welcome

Thanks.
sorry i misunderstood you , you need to work out how thick you mosaic tile/adhesive are together and your porcelain tile/adhesive are and what ever it is say 5-6mm make a wooden gauge so that it will run on top of your fixed porcelain and give you the depth required in the part you want to mosaic then apply adhesive to the mosaic part then rule this level with the gauge then leave this to set hard , then ( next day ) apply adhesive and fix your mosaic flush as above

Hi

Another question: what is the concensus regarding the different tile leveling systems available? Are they worth investing in and is Rubi or the LASH system preferable?

Thanks

Have never used LASH but looks like a good system. I have used the RUBI levelling system here at our training centre and if I am honest it works really well. I am not sure that I would want to use it on a large floor as cost would be an issue. Also it is quite a time consuming process.
