Why when you go around to give customer advice do they look at you like your a dodgy tradesman.

eg. Went to quote this morning woman expecting me to go in and just tile straight away untill i advised her-
  1. You cant tile on artrex She said you can
  2. Or that paint As above
  3. Them 3 inch deep 2 foot wide gouges in the walls need filling She said tile over them
  4. She wants me to tile straight on laminate floor Cue big sigh when i say i wont.
  5. Ok how about floor boards underneath she says. I say it will need ply ing. Cue ffing and blinding.
  6. I then tell her she has the wrong adhesive. Guess what she said No she doesnt.
  7. The little old dear measured the room herself and probably has half the amount of tiles needed to do the job. NO apparently im wrong again cos she measured it twice and still got 7 sq meteres when i measured it before taking cuts into consideration i got 11 sq metrers.
  8. Advise to use primer says she wont be spending any more money.
  9. And all sanitary ware is staying put doesnt want it moved inc radiator. At all.
  10. Quote 11 sq m floors 2 sq m floor I say £350.
  11. Cue GASP the old darling nearly fainted. She said she was expecting less than £100. Says she'll look elsewhere.
  12. Good luck to whoever gets her.

some people just think they know it all.
i had the same my first quote.

the shower tray was 2inches from wall she told me just to tile at slight angle down wall so effectively would have had nearlly 1 3/4inch of adhesive at bottom advised her that you cann't do that the reply was 'plumber said it could be done.'

perhaps we should be paying them for the privalige of tiling there houses, should think ourselves lucky.

I lost a job this week because the guy wanted a half arse job done....for peanuts. he may well ring me in a few mmonths to put up some 450 tiles back up that didnt apear to stay up with blue star on pva in a power shower with no tanking system, landing on his wifes toe.
