Hi all, hoping someone can help with this new development. I'm tearing out glued-down linoleum (or similar) tiles in my entry, and stumbled across a layer of something I can't identify between the troweled on adhesive and the screed below. It's about 1mm thick, dark grey and very brittle. The adhesive has bonded to it very strongly in places, pulling it and bits of the screed off as I prise up tiles.

Is this just a SLC layer? The screed is sound in the adjacent room where I'm extending the new tiles, but I'm thinking maybe SLC was put down first to smooth the surface before the crap tiles were laid?

Thanks for any ideas.

Dave
