Just putting the final prices in on a contract and have been waiting for some mosaic prices to come in. I nearly spat my coffee out when I just started to read the email from the supplier. I hope they deliver it, with an armed escort. :yikes:
I feel a value engineering exercise approaching when they see the total of the quote. The world has gone a bit more mad. Lynn

Hi Lynn,

I got the mosaic prices for you.

Wave panels for the Shower walls the price per sq.m will be:

· Platinum Wave – trade price GBP 4224/m2 +vat ( this was the chosen colour by the designer)

Hold on theres a PS at the bottom of the email.... I love a laugh...shall I ask them for a sample?

Thats a nice touch if I pay 50% up front, they will hold the price! Im in the wrong business!

This bespoke collection Wave is made to order and is pricey because of the labour, but also this colour “Platinum” is not the colour but real platinum used in the coloring of the glass.
Hence the price.
Moreover, the prices are valid for 1 month only as the market price for precious metals like gold and platinum changes constantly and the price e of the mosaic will change with them.
In order to avoid it, the deposit of 50% can be paid in advance and the factory will buy the necessary material and freeze the final price.

Laughable. There can't be that much platinum in them. You can get gold leaf edged bibles for 50p. Enough to give them the colour wont be a lot at all. You could have a foil sheet of platinum for the size of a shower for about 50 quid I bet.

I think the manufacturer is the joker there.

What a bloody laugh.

Is this going ahead then or what Lynn?

these are the ones i just found as well.
how many sq mts of mosaics.
i was supposed to fix some mosaics about 8 years ago for avery famous rock star.
they came from frozen music mosaics in india.
25 ,000.00 for about 6sq mts so about the same, but real craftwork not just square mosaics.
the idiots at factory fixed them onto plywood panels and they all warped really badly in transit
i refused to fix them as couldnt guarantee i could straighten paenls without damaging.

Blimey Dan, they are a lot cheaper, I looked at the bill of quants and they have put in for 25m2 of this one....I don't think somehow I will be buying it, these are to go into the shower rooms, who will even look at them? I don't know what these tiles look like, I always find it a let down when you have these expensive boxes of tiles, and think what a load of crap. Then the 'designer' comes along and says what do you think? and you end up telling a white lie, saying 'Beautiful!' and the lads are looking at you as if to say you lieing little b***h.

Zip the lip, get on with it and bank the cheque, is my motto.

Lynn
