Diamond Pool Finishers

i was on holiday for ten days, and just-up the road from our hotel there was a hotel under construction, well they had just finished the outdoor pool when i got there, so they had left it empty in blazing sunshine :yikes: i looked at the tiling and thought what the hell !! i can see every sheet of mosaic standing out like a sore thumb, then looking at our pool in the hotel we were staying it was the same , so i started to think these guys have left a deliberate space around the sheets for expansion or something, well a few days when -by when i was passing again and see the guys tiling an outdoor shower in the same tiles, then i could see they were not mosaics after all but 30 x 30 tiles mosaic look !!! it certainly fooled me for a while !! if they would have got the joints right then they would look great , and probably a lot cheaper than real mosaics  .
Also i have been trying to identify them ! but can't find them they are a spanish tile anyone know of them ?? thanks for any replies dave

Porcelaonsa used to do a range of 200mmx200mm and I think 300mm x 300mm mosaic looking tiles, even had slots in the face so they could be grouted in to match.

done some of those 3 years ago, black ones. Porcelaona say to only use white grout, customer (an architect) wanted black grout and they looked crap. The black went really light in the slots in the tile and stayed dark round the edge.

Fixed about 100m of those faux mosaics last year, cheap as anything from Spain apparently. The glaze was soo crap and the biscuit so poor (barely cooked) that the colour ran into the glaze if you used a wet cutter. Dire. Looked good when I'd finished them though, had to use bleach! 5* Hotel so it had to look good.

These ones are a very high quality , i brought back a sample , i will take a picture and upload it, as i say they fooled me ! so would be a cheaper alternative for a budget pool :)
