any problems with using bal bond SBR as a primer?

The price....:yikes:...check out tradetile for SBR primer......

SBR Bonding/Admix agent - (Everbuild)

sbr.jpg

(Do not be tempted to use cheaper PVA which moisture breaks down)

SBR Bond is a latex based - Highly suited for priming areas before tiling

Water resistant bonding/priming agent and admixture for use in areas subject to humidity, dampness and continuous water contact

Improves water resistance of cement mixtures by forming a reinforcing polymer that increases long term durability and flexibility of the mix on renderings and floor screeds adhesive etc.

Can be diluted up to 3:1 with water - follow instuction on bottle

Size: 5 litre

Price: £11.99 £13.79 Including VAT at 15%

any comments on the 7mm thickness ...

Haven´t found that, can you please say in detail where it is?

Acc. to the a.m. link I found on the data sheet: "Applying the mix: Apply Keraquick to the substrate with a notched trowel to a max of 10 mm thick"

Thanx 4 answering, Martin

Ultrarapid-setting flexible (S1) cement based powder adhesive for ceramic tiles (thicknesses of adhesive up to 7 mm).
Applications:
Interior and exterior bonding of all types of ceramic floor and wall tiles (double fired tiles, single fired, porcelain tiles etc) on:
– old floors and walls (ceramic tiles, natural stone, terrazzo, concrete) provided they are solid and clean;
– cast concrete, properly cured prefabricated concrete panels (at least 4 months old), heating panels, reinforced cement panels, plaster boards, provided they are firmly fixed. Particularly suitable for works where rapid repairs are required spacing. N.B.: mixing with Latex Plus
(6 kg of Latex Plus for each 20 kg bag of Keraquick) provides increased deformability (S2), without changing the other positive features of Keraquick. Coverage
2.5-4 kg/m2. Packaging
20 kg bags grey, 20 kg bags white, 4x5 kg packs
this is on the page that give the link to the pdf file.

i also found in the data sheet to prime gypsum although its not really stated as it i would expect.

That 7mm will refer to compressed adhesive bed....not the trowel notch size!

so SBR is ok to use with mapei,im just a bit dubious when mixing products on something as critcal as mapei SP on plaster with BAL SBR i know it wont be a problem its just handy to get it confirm here for peace of mind.
ive already got 5 litres of bal SBR,a punter bought it instead of apd so i bought it of him cheap very cheap.
