Kitchen Floor Overboarding

Have a Kitchen floor to tile as i am renovating the kitchen. Floor is wooden suspended floor solid all securely fixed down 18mm thick planks onto 8x2 joists. What would be best to overboard the floor with 12mm ply glue and screwed ever 150mm with the appropriate flexi ad and grout or a cement based board if so which would you recomend. Really looking for thoughts on what you would do/suggest. Tiles will be ceramic havent chosen them though.

If the deflection is sound, you can use either 18mm ply or a thinner cement-based board I think mate.

Then 2-part flex adhesive (mapei IMO) to tile with.

Wait for the lads to respond though as I've not tiled for years! I'd hate to cause you issues.

Providing the subfloor is good and solid, I'd overboard with Hardie glued n screwed and tile with Keraquick.

May i ask why everyone seems to choose a cement board over plywood these days?.....its more expensive and also plywood when done correctly is just as good?

Cement boards don't get affected by moisture......

I am just about to do the same, was advised to think about a decoupling membrane like sites matting, is that a viable option..,

Always use backer boards

I agree. If you have a quality of ply then fine. But, today baker boards are very much in demand and it is more durable than a ply. I just furnish my white kitchen cabinets and kitchen room with baker board and I'd a great experience with it.
