Kitchen splashbacks

Hi can anyone tell me is it best back butter small 100x100 kitchen tiles or trowel up the wall as normal. Thanks Stu:yes:

Personal preference mate as long as you get proper coverage, i prefer to comb the wall and just comb the tile in difficult areas

Only back butter where you can't trowel the wall easily and sometimes if you need to ensure full coverage.

And be careful not to damage the kitchen units with your trowel especially around the extractor.

What circumstances dictate priming first ? do you always prime or does it depend on substrate ?

I would prime to reduce suction on fresh plastered walls,or the walls need scaping down example were old tiles have been removed,wood panels and wood floors

Same as most, trowel out on walls and only back butter where the trowel can't get. You'll triple your time by back buttering each 100mm tile.

Thanks wylie, of course i knew that i was just checking !! No its just that there have been times when i have simply rubbed the wall back, say on a painted wall and not primed, then i got to thinking, blimey prehaps i should be priming all the time. Thanks mate, im fresh out of training so forgive me.

even when primed,OPF is used let me know if there's better

How are you priming mate, I hope not using PVA, you'd be surprised how many people still do!
