laptop, no audio output

cannot get audio output on my lappy, updated drivers etc but all I get on the taskbar volume icon is "No Audio Output Device Is Enabled",,,gone through all device manager/control panel etc and it says everything is working correctly, but it's not :mad2:, before I lose my rag will a hdmi cable from lappy to telly work? (hdmi cable is currently plugged into x-box upstairs that kids use)

yes mate a hdmi lead also carries sound through to your t.v

did a system restore Geoff, didn't work, tbh it's a cannibalised laptop, my hard drive in father-in laws laptop, maybe the two are conflicting?

tried headphones in the port, still same taskbar message, could be soundcard maybe?

it's a medion laptop OS is windows 7, got hdmi cable plugged in now so viewing on telly.....

e6124 Charlie, got booted up on the old acer one now, (I managed to get the 'laccy band" taut enough lol)
