Working late and tired We installed a wall of 16" x 10" tile from FFL to ceiling on a plumb and flat surface.
Next day, during grouting, very obvious lipping began to show.
We then checked the remaining 16" x 10" and noticed how distorted they were. In the two packs that we opened, 60% were bent. The tile was customer supplied from a major supplier to the trade - not a shed or T's.
The customer was OK with it, esp when we threw in some free plumbing.

Maybe the mastic adhesive didn't help, we used it because we had run out of powdered adhesive and used up the two tubs of mastic that the customer had at hand. Maybe it was only the tile?

Probably due to flushing the tiles by pressing on the corner , tiles that big will bend giving the appearance the tiles are flush. Overnight the tile will straighten before the addy is fully set and the lip will appear. Next time try rubbing the tile in by applying pressure to the middle of the tile so it goes back a bit more evenly and doesn't get the opportunity to bend.

IMHO

Diggy :)

And the question is......

The answer is obviously you've done a crap job and it's the customers fault for supplying poor quality tiles. No doubt you told the customer you were so embarrassed with the mess you've made that you redo it for free!

Be fair TJ, it was late and they were tired......:sofahide:

Time's Ran Out

What's the point of complaining about the materials after they have been fixed!
I haven't a clue what flushing is apart from in a wc. And 16x10 inch tiles are hardly large format by today's standards and if they bend then my name is Beckham!
The thread is obviously a wind up as there is no question, and we'll wait another 2 years for the next post!
