Large Section of Mosaic Tiles

Looking for a bit of advice

I have a for my sins designed a tiled pattern where a section 600 x 600 within the main tiles (which are 300 x600 rectified and 10mm thick), is formed of 4 sheets of Mosaic tiles (300x300)

I want to ensure that these Mosaics are flat and look good

I have done some Mosaics before but only in a thin strip around 100mm wide and to do this I followed some instructions on this site and made a wooden adhesive spreader to get the adhesive to the correct depth before installing the tiles, this worked well

Should I follow the same process for a large area or is there a better way. I also thought about mixing the adhesive slightly thicker so that I don’t manage to push the mosaics into the adhesive to deep

I have just tiled my bathroom in 10mm thick mosaics and used a 4mm trowel, as advised by a few pros on here - it worked well and meant the adhesive didn't squirt out through the gaps.

If the mosaics are thinner, either go with the same method, or you can get some Mosaic Mesh (I think that is what it was called!?!). You can use it to pack out the area to be tiled..
You might have to play with the mosaics a bit, to get them to fit perfectly. Or maybe you've already checked the physical sizes?

Mosiacs are 7mm thick inclding the mesh on the back, so can I get further mesh which will make up the 3mm difference ?

Yeah, it's not the regular mesh that the mosaics come on.. It's a hard plastic mesh that you bed into addy, then trowel over. Tile source used to stock it, but I can't see it on their website!?! I know it's still around, as my local independant tile shop stocks it.. Might be an idea doing a google search, or ringing round local tile shops to see if they stock it

Hmmm not sure that's exactly the same. Stuff I used was interlocking, and you could layer it up for different depths.

Lol at Heinz... You're the 1st person to come up with that, honest!
