Laying Natural Stone onto existing tiles in St. Tropez

I need to know what to do regarding laying natural stone tiles onto existing tiles on a floor from start to finish as this is a first for me. The job is abroad and i have been recommended by my plumber and it is one of his friends and i really need to do a top job as it is a really swanky pad!!! NO PRESSURE:lol:
Any help from anyone will be great, i have searched the threads but haven't really found any direct answers.

There is no way I would consider laying Natural Stone on top of existing tiles unless I was absolutely forced to. I would want a very good reason why I could not take the existing stuff up. How do you know what substrate is underneath and how well it is fixed? Any more info as to why?

I'd deffo remove the old tiles. If I can't inspect the substrate, it's a no go.

If it's supposed to be a top job, the only option is to remove the old tiles. Not removing them would make the job half-arsed, and you certainly can't leave any guarantees that it will last.

If they're on concrete or any other solid substrate, removing old tiles is really easy with a small jackhammer with a bolster chisel attachment (preferably with a slight angle on the "blade"), and if the concrete is in somewhat good condition, you won't damage it if you're light handed.
