Laying Pebbles

Hi

I am after some advice on laying sheet pebbles.......
I have a 'wetroom' floor to tile (it's a wet-tray style shower enclosure) and I have to lay Pebbles inside the tray, the walls and floor are finished but I am wondering what adhesive to use? (I was going to use Arduit X7) to fix the tiles, the grout they want is Mapei ultracolour plus 113 (as the floor/walls), do I need to seal the Pebbles prior to grouting? and what size notched trowel should I use? (some of the pebbles seem to overlay each other :yikes do I use the grout quite runny so it gets into all the tiny gaps?

Having never fixed these before I am asking for your expert opinions

On the box it just say Indonisian Pebbles

Is there tanking on the tray..it's been many years since I laid any pebble tiles, was using bal at the time..

I know I did'nt seal them but expect to be using a large amount of grout, maximum of 20mm with ultracolour.

Yes the tray is tanked, I was not sure if I needed to seal them as they are a nice natural looking dull colour atm (which is how I think they should look) just didnt want to grout them then :yikes::yikes::yikes: :smilewinkgrin: I know iys going to eat grout

No, I will take a picture of them tommorow and post mine are all one colour (grey) and closer together

:lol: Mine were closer together until the grout went in. On a shower tray to avoid pooling you need to get the grout as flush as poss, otherwise water will sit in the depressions, and never drain away. Pebbles are not the ideal base, in a wet room tray imo.

Are yours half pebbles? ie flat on the bottom and round on the top? or flat both sides?

Better if they were flat both sides but it's never easy, lol.
Well tanked with no gaps and secure seal to the drain needed.

Yes they are 1/2 pebbles so they are flat on the underside (they have grooves in) the "tray" has a "gully" at one end, I will post some pics tommorow ( I did ask the customer if they had ever walked on the beach at Brighton) and did they stand on them barefoot in the showroom, I got a blank look........................

It does give you a funny feeling on the bottom of the feet walking on them though.

if you're using mapei ultracolour, mix it exactly as per instructions
