Hi guys went to look at a job in a bathroom a couple of weeks ago in a empty house as it is having a full redo, all ready with my tape and calculator to measure up. the lady customer (quite smart aswell!!) said all I want is a price for the job as I have the tiles and have made sure there are plenty. I said ok and gave her a price. Turned up wednesday and started the tiling did two full walls with a nice fancy border in it made from mosiac sheets, on the third got halfway up and started to look for some more tiles looked all over the house thinking the builders may have moved some, no luck so I rang the lady (quite smart aswell) asked where they were her reply was they are all there! the tiles are 600mm x 330mm and I worked out she was 70 tiles short in telling the lady (quite smart aswell) she put the hammer blow in saying that they were from a discontinued line!!!!!! you know what is coming next!! yes they all have to come off. The lady (quite smart aswell) was so adament that she had enough I just got on with it. I asked the lady (quite smart aswell) who had measured up and she said the builder!!!she has a kitchen and an en-suite to do shortly she has asked me to measure up properly for those,

You got yourself a fair bit of work from that builders' mistakes then.... I wouldn't knock him too much :)

It's one of those typical "well I did say make sure there are enough Mrs Customer"!

Hope she's paying for you to take them off too mate.

this happend on a bathroom i did last week lol,
mr hubby measured up then they both go skipping down to tile it all
pick the tiles , take em home , then 6 months later call me .
i measure up and they are 3 sq metres short of cream tiles, 4 sq m short of brown tiles and 1 sq m short of floor tiles,an guess what .......... yup they are all now discontinued.
after 2 hours of design discussion we managed to come up with a solution .. buy some mosaic travertine for bath panel and boxing in.
cost em £100 more for tiles and and a little extra for me ( sealer to buy plus my time for clean n seal)
as for the floor i managed to get floor laid with not a single tile left over by using cast off cut tiles (but not the ones that had been cut both sides)
friggin customers ..who told em they could measure up right
but i got a lot of kudos from mr and mrs we like to ang on a while before getting a tiler in for coming up with a solution that they said looks better than what they had planned lol

its a funny life until somebody introduced customers into the tiling world lol

this is the first time it has happens to me so it is a learning curve, if I go to another a job and they say that there is enough tiles I can give this as an example and I am sure they will be asking me to get my tape measure out double quick, think I was looking at her more than the amount of boxes of tiles she had, I did ask her afew times about measuring and still got the same answer so she has learned aswell.
