extra long ones are great on a large floor imo, spoon the addy then spread it into substrate with the flat edge, then maybe use you're 12" inch to put the ribs in.

i really can't get along with them Doug, got a couple on the van and that's where they stay! Having said that I've got a 600mm trowel for slc'ing large floors and its awesome!
