levelling on top of tiles

Hello im about to tile my kitchen floor and today i removed the laminate flooring that the previous occupant of my house had down, under the laminate was lino then under that is what looks like red quarry tiles, if i remove them the floor will be very uneven compared to one half of the room which has no quarry tiles down.
What i need to know is can i put leveller on top of the old tiles which are not level. If this is possible can anyone recommend a good leveller, i know BAL is good but it is hard to get hold of where i live.

It's good to prime tiles before levelling on tiles with special primer for non absorbing surfaces which will give you grip on tiles for leveler. You can also prime by making a scratch coat from powder flex adhesive mixed with water.

Ardex K 301 I think the name is - you ca apply form feather to 20 mm in one go and you can tile on it after 2 h

Some says that Ultra is good enough - I can say that is cheaper for sure 🙂

Quarries used to be laid on black ash if this is the case it is quite likely unstable. You might want to check this

..

Ash is a problem - few options to choose depending on condition of surface itself and if surface condition is bad, humidity under it

Thanks for the info lads, the red quarry tiles are very solid and look very stable so think i'll leave them down . I will have to use some leveller because a wall has been knocked down in the past from an adjoining room and extended the kitchen, the floor slopes off gradually to a maximum of about 5mm. My local retailer stocks Mapei adhesives etc does anyone have any feedback from using they're stuff. Also the old adjoining room has bitumen on the floor with a good hold. Ive heard you could use Acetone to clean it off - is this a long hard job or can i sit back and watch it dissolve.
