Anybody out there got any ideas how to "level off" plasterboard walls? I am doing a bathroom in a new build house (not very well built!!) and the plasterboard around the window reveal is sort of curved in by about 20mm under a straight edge - if you know what I mean. This is kicking out the cut around the top corners quiet badly. Not wanting to have the walls skimmed (builder is vary late with the house) I am looking for some sort of levelling filler that I can apply that will accept tiles. The tiles are large format ceramics.

Any help greatly received as always.

PS title should have said plasterboard!!!!! Doh!!

try looking into ardex products thay do a leveling compound that can be tiled onto after 2 hours, not quite sure of the product name but i have used it a couple of times for similar things. I'm sure it can go on upto 40mm thick. Good luck with the project.

Try lafarge bonding coat, its cheap, you can go thick and it dries fairly quick. You can level it off with a straight edge as it dries. if you want it to dry quickly mix a bit of multi in with it. Seal with acrylic primer before tiling. Works a treat. easiest way would be to rip out the low bit and dot and dab some new board on though as previously advised...

Thanks for your responses guys. Taking off the curent plasterboard is not viable as the ceilings have been coved, also I think the supporting timber is not exactly in line so putting a new piece on my not make any difference. Will look into the Lafarge though, how long after application is it safe to fix tiles Daveshack?

Hi Grumps...

Sorry i meant carlite bonding not lafarge. Lafarge bonding is for dot n dabbing plasterboard. As for setting time, it depends how thick ya going on and what ya going onto. Like i said mix some multi finish with it and it'll go off quicker and harder. A couple of hours in your situation i'd guess...
