Lipage you can trip over (see pic)

I saw this on a recently layed floor, today.

Floor was wooden suspended, not uneven concrete. :yikes:

didnt sort their stone into thicknesses before laying

Nowt that a hammer and chisel won't sort out, that's the thing with natural split slate.. it can be chisel'd off flat if required..

start of a staircase..as Dave has said ...it's easily removed, I guess they are fortunate it's slate

Thats exactly what he told them Andy,

I've never laid slate before but its interesting about the thickness and the hammer and bolster...

I never pointed out any faults to her I just said "I like your new floor"
It was a local handyman who did it.

Maybe its not such a bodge then if slate comes in differing thicknesses (makes sense I suppose) but you're right mike, I would have sorted them in their seperate thicknesses before laying, I wouldn't have left steps like that.

You learn something on here every night.

Not so handy that handyman!! You've gotta know what you're doing working with slate. It looks like it's been finished ok...clean off and sealed. Just a shame he didn't take the time to sort the thickness of tiles before hand
