Load bearing?

I always thought that plasterboard had a load bearing capacity of 20kg/m2 but according to the tta its 32kg/m2?

The maximum weight of tiling which can be supported by a dry, well-adhered plaster background is 20kg/m2, generally equivalent to ceramic tiles with a thickness of 8mm or natural stone tiles with a thickness of 7mm. When fixing directly to unskimmed paper-faced plasterboard surfaces the maximum permissible weight is increased to 32 kg/m2. These weights include adhesive and grout.

Is this correct? (which i assume it is), was i wrong in thinking it was 20kg/m2 (which i assume i was), or am i reading this wrong?

yes it correct dont ever plaster it if you can help it

yes it is correct, you can put more weight on to plasterboard than skim plaster, you can put even more wieght on to cement boards.

Plywood ( wbp) is only 25kg to 30kg..

yes...skim coated plasterboard is 20 k per sq m

plasterboard is 32

Render depends on what sand was used, soft sand is not one of them and I've seen it crumbling away from the walls...

I knew that pb could support more weight than a skim and that render and back board could support more weight still i just had the amount of weight wrong. I have just spent 3 hours double checking what i thought to be correct about substrate load bearing. How sad is that!
