LTP ironwax on slate

Can anyone help? After much forum reading I applied LTP ironwax sealant prior to tiling ( black slate) so any adhesive spills etc would clean off easily but have found it has streaked and can see all wipe marks. Can this be cut back with something once tiled and start again, really don't want to lose all tiles but effect is too visible. Thanks for any tips.

It is very easy to apply incorrectly.
Instructions on bottle must be followed to the letter

Just the one coat applied as per instructions using a cloth to wipe it on. Don't know how I could have applied less. The only thing I can think of is I had them all laid out outside and it was quite a hot day. But if I can strip that coat back and start again it would be good. I'll contact LTP direct on Monday if no solutions by then.

You will need at least 2 or 3 coats applied in opposite directions for even coverage.

Realize I need to build up coats but the first has gone down so heavy I don't want to seal it in. Woud like to cut it back pre-grouting but not sure what to use. Any answers?

hi lee,i used ltp ironwax a few times on stone jobs recently,personally i didnt like it but thats just my opinion,i found it difficult to work with and found streaking to be an issue as well regardless of how well i followed the instructions for application,have you tried fila or lithofin?

If you use Aqua mix sealing and coating remover then leave to dry.. when you do seal again with the iron wax then use a paint pad. this gives a much better and even coat.
