mapei grout queries

hello

basically i used mapei flexible grout today. now when i mixed it up it would be a paste and ready for grouting,. then after i start spreading it on the walls the stuff still in the bucket would become wetter and wetter?:yikes:

why is this?

Sounds like it wasn't mixed properly, did you let it stand for a few minutes then mix again ?

yeah i did this, id leave it a couple of mins then re-mix. nice paste to start with then it just went like single cream, anyway grouted all up and come out alright

mapei grought slakes in the bucket its normal if it gets to stiff just remix dont readd water can cause aclic bleed same as over washing.looks wet on top stiff on bottom

love mapei products chosen over anything else on my jobs the only thing I dis like is mapilath has its place just not many places.has any one tried mapei lft? I found it very simular to ultra contact

you must do exactly what it says on the packet with regards to mixing.In other words if you have a 5kg bag of grout then its 1.2ltr -1.5ltr of water.Mechanicaly mix then let it slake in the bucket for 4-5 mins then mix again.Dont scrimp on the grout by trying to mix just what you need as this wont work and will result in grout discoloration.(efflorecence)

Experience with mapei grout goes a long way to getting it right,not as easy as most grouts to use but when you use it a lot it gets better,i love it too,just dont jump in and wash it too quick or too late,timing has to be right for that perfect finish.
