Used it twice before and wasn't impressed with the brilliantness of the white - closer to grey.
Love all their products but promised myself not to use their white grout again but like a fool I did as I had loads left.
Now got a call back from a customer as he's not happy - looks like I'm going to have to regrout or at the least use a recolourant.

Would be nice to here what Mapei have to say - and yes I mixed it and used it correctly and there was no contamination.
I have spoken to a couple of other tilers too, who, whilst they love Mapei's range of colours they don't use their white for this reason.

I've just had the same problem nick. I even got the mapei rep out to take a look. Up against white tiles, it's definitely grey. 6m2 done and I'm still not impressed even though the instructions were followed to the letter.

The rep I spoke to says it has a lot to do with the different dye pigmants that go into making the white. It has to be mixed correctly in order for all of the pigmants to blend properly and the white come out looking white.

Well Bal, Dunlop. granfix etc... come out brilliant white no matter how you mix them up!
Was going to complain to Mapei but don't see the point - they'll just say the same to me! Even though it was mixed exactly as per their instructions!
Mapei ought to sort this as now I know lots of tilers who never touch their white - I'll add you to that list now!

I'd like to know what to say to the customer now. I've done nothing wrong but can't argue that it doesn't look grey next to his white tiles!

Who did you have out to look at it?

Let me have a word  When did he come round?

Thursday. He's having a look to get me a mapei equivalent grout reviver and I said I'd let him know how the second batch turned out. Darren's right when he says it's not pure brilliant white, but my grout is now patchy all over, white in areas, grey in others... but mainly grey.

Hmmmm. I presume the grout has fully dried in the areas that are patchy? Is it Fuga Fresca that he mentioned as the grout reviver? I only ask because Fuga Fresca is more of a paint than a reviver. I didn't realise you were having problems, you should of let me know

I am sure Ultracolour used to be pure white. Shame it seems to have changed :(

Darren didn't mention what it was but he did say I would need to paint it on

It's not a massive problem. The grout is dry and it's now patchy all over. When it was mixed up, it turned a beige/mushroom colour.

Fuga Fresca comes in a bottle with a foam pad on the end. Similar to those shoe shine things  It works well from what I have seen. But it is literally painting the grout.

had exactly the same problem witht the white 3 times also and will never use again,,also had the same comments back from mapei regarding mixing, was there contamination etc..at the end of the day this is clearly a more widespread problem than just a faulty batch or incorrect mix and wold be interesting to see what mapei say as clearly patchy or greyish grout meant to be white can ruin a finished job. all mapeis products iv used are excellent apart from this it would be nice to se them actually aknowledge there is a problem

use mapei stuff all the time and never used to have problems with white grout. But been back to a job today (only had to repair a few broken tiles and did it last week)as white grout I put in bathroom had dried pretty grey.

Wasnt even close to white TBH, luckily only a few tiles as mentioned so whipped it out and did again with another make. i would use anything else from mapei but never white grout anymore
