Marble Tiles

Has anyone used this tile before.

It's from topps tiles (unfortunately)
The customer has bought them for her shower walls and floor. A quick look on the topps Web sites says suitable for floors only ? Is this a weight issue?

Doesn't say...
Just says it's a dense structure.

Marble is approx 2.5-3kg per metre per mm

Just had a look to, no thickness mentioned.
At a guess probably 18 to 20mm, so could go on walls if they are prepared properly.
Should be able to get in a 10mm or 12mm stone from another supplier, and probably a lot cheaper

If they were just 12mm that'd make them 32.5kg per m2 without your 4kg addy and grout!

What's your substrate

Don't know yet. I'm looking at the job next week just got her to send me details of the tiles. ..like to be prepared... .if you know what I mean. ....just found it strange why it said floors only..

I've fixed loads in past years. Quality was good then. Last time i saw some though it was resin and mesh backed and pretty low grade. Be careful...

As I have may years back, but think they were 10mm resin and mess backed back then

Wasn't there a problem with resin backed tiles at the Shar in London, the resin backing came away and there was everybody blaming each other.

the adhesive did not stick to the resin

Had a look at the job on the way home.
Walls are skimmed plasterboard and the tiles weigh in at 36 kg per m2. Topps told her they were fine for walls but missed out the fact it's got to be cement board.....so she's not happy !!

I would advise her to take them back and get some somewhere else and nearly half the price and at correct thickness.
The money saved would allow you to HB the walls

Left it with her to sort out....told her what I can do to fix the problem. ....but she's not happy with topps..lol
Dose beg the question though, is it up to the tile shop to inform about the weight issue. ....and how many people know what cement boards are.....They will just say 'how are we supposed to know what your substrate is'...
Personally I think they should...would save us a lot of hassle. .

the reason may be not for walls is there are a lot of fissures in these tiles so water can pas through quite easily wouldn't like to do a shower in them they'll be like a sive

if there from topps there 10 mm thick with a resin and mesh back not many adhesives capable of holding to the resin back would only use ultras ultimate to stick them and keep fingers crossed
