Hi

I just took delivery of a new Marmox showerlay and horizontal waste.

The waste was meant to fit either 40 or 50mm solvent weld waste pipe connection.

However, on checking the correct fitness, neither 50mm connectors nor pipe seems to fit (there is too much play between the waste outlet and 50mm pipe for a proper solder weld connection to be made).

It only seems to fit as a solvent weld socket for a 40mm pipe.

I'd check the content of the box, but there does not seem to any relevant part.

I could increase the 40mm pipe to 50mm...but I think that this would not improve the flow due to the 40mm section.

Am I missing a part for the 50mm outlet?

Many thanks in advance.

get a good plumber to sort it for you, that's why i don't do much plumbing, there's so many different waste sizes, metric, imperial and a lot of outlets have their own sizes

any waste pipes for showers iv seen are 40mm. (1.5 ") . us whatever size it was designed to use. you can get a lot of trouble when using the wrong size pipes. too much flow or not enough. as a result they willl block by slowing the water and solids seperating out or moving too fast and the solids geting left behind. both cases solids start to build up over time and coat the pipe

40mm should be more than enough to deal with a power shower. Is there sufficient fall in the waste pipe to allow the water to run and are there any bends in the waste pipe between the shower drain and the stack.

I always install wet floor drains directly to the the main stack with as few bends and as much fall as possible, which can involve a lot of extra work and planning. In some cases, it's impossible to put a standard drain in, as you can't get the water away quick enough, so you have to install a pumped drain instead.
