im looking at buying a medium/small sized van for my son who has just passed his test,anyone got any preferences
connect ,partner,combi sort of size

Got a SWB Connect myself. Brilliant wee runner and better built than the others but not a lot of space in it for anything other than tools. The TDI are a better engine than the TDCi though.

I am looking to get a new van. Like Wingn ive got a small van, a Citroen Berlingo, its a great little van, good on fuel, never had any problems with it. But there just never seems to be enough space. Im forever dropping bits off at home just to pick them up later.

But im not sure what van to go for either lol.

Do you work for Mike Holmes??? ha. thats the kind of van you see holmes on holmes driving.

I had an Astra van sportive but it was too small so i traded it in for a Nissan Primastar SWB that i feel now is too small so im on the hunt for a LWB renault trafic or LWB primastar, you cant fit an 8x4 sheet straight in the back of a SWB, it has to go at an angle.:mad2: A lot of shuffling tools around.

I have a red Vauxhall Combo (ex post office) and every square inch of space is utilised, I'd love a Transit sized van but find them too bulky around town and parking round here is like everywhere is this country, a nightmare.

Combo's suffer qaulity issues and the parts are very expensive compared to other Vauxhalls eg clutch job £700 with flywheel, poor design means when the clutch goes it takes the flywheel with it.

I've got a swb Renault trafic which I find is a perfect size. I also fit vinyl floors so always need a van that will get 2m rolls in the back. I'd always recommend going for the biggest van you can get away with, if you're anything like me you'll always manage to fill it!!

Im thinking of a Renault, traffic I think its called. But im only 21 so insurance is sky high. Ive litterally just spent the last hour of my day looking in the back of my van wondering what i could do to make more space......anyone got a spare welding kit :mad2:.

I run a vw transporter T28 on an 08 plate great size and drives almost like a car

My '07 trafic holds all I need plus pallets of tiles and adhesive when required.Damn good van although mine needs an air flow meter tomorrow @£150 ! Ouch.

got an air flow meter cleaned with a special liquid a while ago in an old vectra i had, ask around it might save you a couple of pounds.

its the insurance thats the killer new driver at 22 year old ,looked at a traffic but 3k for insurance as apposed to a grand for a connect,
ive got a vivaro but still struggle to get everything in ,plastering tiling gear ect
