Membrane-type or Mapei Mapegum?

Hi all -


I have an Impy Auquadec and was planning to tank the rest of the wet room with a Mapei Showerproofing kit (Mapegum).
over 18mm WBS ply, 6 mm aquapanel and 150W Climatech UFH.

I'm now wondering if it's better to use a membrane-type tanking kit - Dura-wp (or Tilesafe with a 100W UFH) instead of the Mapegum.

Also - if I get the Dura-wp, can I lay that over the aquapanel with having to apply another layer of tile adhesive?

Hi there.
In my experience i've fixed a large number of wetrooms and i've used all systems.
The floor will need an uncoupling layer so i would use Schluter Ditra matting or the Durabase C1. Tile safe won't work as an uncoupling layer. The walls you could use tilesafe,but i do think this is overkill, or i would use Mapei Aqua defence with Mapeband in all the internal corners and over the joins in the boards.There are plenty of clips on Youtube from Mapei showing correct installation especially on the shower tray.
You will need another layer of adhesive to fix the Dura-wp.

Just ordered the Durabase CI from PHG 🙂

Quick question - does the UFH go under the Dura or on top?

My intention is : 18mm Ply, 6mm Aquapanel, UFH , SLC , Dura , tiles - any other suggestions?
I also presume I need to let the SLC go hard before putting the Durabase on?

Thats how Schluter reccomend you do it if your using Ditra mat (does same job as Durabase).
Level the floor then leave it overnight, it may say 3-4 hours on the bag setting time, but it always takes longer to cure.
