Hi again,

In my bathroom i would like to install mirror demister. The problem is that the mirror covers all the wall so it will not be possible for someone to make the necessary connections and stick the demister on the mirror at the installation time. what i would like to ask is, the wall is covert with mdf wood and the mirror will be fixed with adhesive on the mdf. if i stick the demister on the mdf instead on the mirror, i know that maybe have 1-2mm space between the demister and the mirror will it work? at least do i get the 70-80%?
Thanks

It does depend on a number of factors I.e the watts output and the demister in mind,

The basic fact is heat rises howver it will traverse and will therefore demist the mirror however it will take considerably longer as wood is an insulator 2mm will have no great effect.

My concern is how are you sticking the mdf and what with, are you preping it first and what with, is it going to be a solid foundation for the mirror. MDF loves water and if not done right you are in for loads of trouble.

My opinion MDF and steam as standard should not be see in the same room together, especially 2mm.

I would have thought that it has to be attached to the mirror. Done one before with two demisters on it (because of the size) The demisters have a connector box on them which has too be 'dug' away in the wall. With it being a stud wall we managed to 'thread' a wire through and tied it to the demister cables. As the mirror was lifted into place we had a man in the loft pulling the cable through!
Another mirror was done by building a wooded frame around a spur and mirror screws into the frame. All good fun which ever way you go.

the mdf is placed so the big mirror fit and fixed better as the wall was not everywhere straight. the mdf is 12mm and there is a square hole where the demister connection will be done. i am planning to stick the demister on the mdf and then when the mirror be fixed with adhesive on mdf it might be 1 or 2 mm space between the mirror and the demister but it might not be. all depents on how thick will be the adhesive. the mirror will cover all the mdf so will not be any problem with water. the demister that i have is 60watt.
