Q

quick draw macgraw

Hi all wonder if i could get some advice for my own bathroom. i'm tiling half room going up to full height where shower over bath is with montreal ivory tiles but finishing along the top with tumbled border( rectangular beiges and browns on paper mesh) so i am using Bal whitestar so grout doesn't discolour but the wife said she wants ivory grout (possible discolouration?), also with the border being the same thickness as tiles a 3mm trowel will leave a step down to border. Therefore do i use my 10mm trowel and blend border in with tiles using float hoping adhesive doesn,t push through then grout lot with ivory or tell wifey to shove ivory grout and use white instead to break up the ivory colour as well as not being contaminated with whitestar.

Any advice gratefully received.
Cheers Steve.

you wont get any grout discolouration with white star ( leave to set before grouting ).
use your larger notch trowel on borders and pat down to tile depth , wash any adhesive off that squirts through. ( best to seal borders first before fixing easier to clean ).
as for grout colour depends on personal choice ( BEST TO KEEP WIFE HAPPY lol lol ).
but make sure you use a polymodified one .. hope this helps . dave..

polymodified is a flexible additive hydrated into the adhesive/grout. ( just add water ).
you can get ivory Silicon at your local tile stockist or diy store. as for your question on floor trowels it depends on what size notch you use but roughly when tile is bedded into adhesive its will be about half your bed thickness..
