Hi, I recentley tiled my bathroom (about 7 months) in 60 x 30 honed and filled travertine tiles. Some of the tiles in the shower area are getting a black mould on them, it wipes off but comes back again. The tiles have been sealed. In the shower area two of the walls are tiled onto WBP ply and one wall is tiled onto aqua board. Does anyone know why this could be happening? Thanks!

Hi, it sounds like poor ventilation in the bathroom, try wiping shower walls down when you have used the shower and leave a window open a bit, if their is a door on the shower try leaving it open also when you have finished. I wouldn't use bleach to clean the mould try a specialised cleaner from your local diy store. Hope that helps.

Like enduro says, its gotta be ventilation, try what he suggests or if your up for it you can buy an extraction fan for around 20-30 quid, easily installed by a DIYer competent as it doesnt go onto a new circuit, especiallyif you get the 12 volt ones.

Condensation is a killer for grout/Silicon.

Customers with kids I always make a point of telling them...........even with an extractor
