Hi everyone

My name is mark and im from manchester, Im looking to do a training course in tiling and then hopefully become a sucessful SE tiler.

If people could help me to choose the right company to do the course with? It would be much appreciated.

I would prefer to do the course in manchester or nearby. Ive researched a little and come across PTT in warrington and elite in prestwich. What do you think?

Thanks in advance

Hi Monty, welcome to the forums. I traind at PTS in Warrington. If you do a search from the menu at the top using PTS I am sure you will find lots of info.

Grumpy

My mistake, the search doesn't bring anything up but there is lots in here in various posts, along with discussions about other courses, maybe just scoot around the threads to see what comes up.

Hi monty, when you say elite in prestwich, I guess you mean The Elite school of plastering ?

If so, I went there for my course and while I was there I thought the course was very good, but that was when I knew absolutly nothing what-so-ever about tiling.

After my course I then tiled my bathroom, did an ok job of it, but then I found these forums.
After a few hours reading through dozens of threads I then realised how bad my course at Elite had really been.

Very little was said about adhesives, and what we were told was basically wrong.

They showed us how to measure out \layout a job on a basic wall with a window, but loads of incorrect infomation on how to get around certain problems, mainly how to bodge them instead of working round them propperly.

No business information to speak of, nothing on how to price up, more like charge loads and you'll make a fortune.

From what I've read on here about other peoples courses, mine at elite was quite bad and incorrect, but I did manage to pick out what was useful and learnt 10000% more from the helpful people on these forums.

Hi Fekin

Yes thats the one, Thanks for the info about them and i will now remove them from my shortlist:wink_smile:

Its looking like a toss up between pts in warrington (LOCAL) or NETT. I will keep reading through this excellent forum and im sure it will make my mind up.

Thanks alot mate
