just been to my first job quote. few things

1. the tiles are 450 x 310 and they have there own adhesive spacers grout thing is the adhesive they got is tub from Aldi. should i use there own adhesive ?

2. also i will have to apply adhesive straight over hot and cold pipes as they are bare so my thinking is i would have to use a multi flex over hot pipe.

3. there shower tray is 2.5cm away from wall on 1 side and 1.5 cm on other he asked me if i could tile so that the tiles would come down wall at a angle not to happy about doing this what do you think? Would a trim fit or would it still leave gap?

heres few pics

looking at those photos steve that room needs serious attention.
firstly i would dry line the whole room in moisture resistant plaster board.
taking great care to get this flat ,( i use a long strait edge to tamp the boards flat )
tank the walls within the shower area, Silicon the shower tray to get it water tight.
it would be better to take all sanitaryware out, i.e. sink, toilet.much better finish.
then use a flexible wall adhesive i.e. bal whitestar and grout with bal micro flex wall grout. or any equivelant of these products.
Tell the customer thats what needs doing to walls regards the drylining and if they say not then walk away .. p.s cant believe anybody wolud expect a tiler to tile that room without doing anything to remedy them. GOOD LUCK.

oh and as for a price i'd say about £380.00 for tiling only. drylining extra.

now you say i think i will walk away as would be a nightmare trying to get the tiles to do as the customer wants and would not look very good and with me trying to build a reputation.

think i will telephone the customer and ask them to get it drylined or even plastered explain why.
see what they say then.

What the "$&^%*^()^&$(&%(& was that!!! That wasn't a bathroom it was a bombsite!!!!

Tell the customer to wedge their head in the hole between the shower tray and the wall, whilst u repeatedly kick them up their dumb ***!!

How can a customer even contemplate tilng straight over that ****e??

The thing is someone else will go in there (probably Polish!!) and do it! When they do , and it all comes crashing down on top of Mrs Smith whilst she's baring her cheeky behind in the shower then you can go in and say "told ya so u pair of elephant testicles" and do the job how it was meant to be done!!!

Good luck. :)

Sorry i've had a ****e day :)

HI STEVEP,by reading between the lines it sounds like they want the job done quick as they have called you back and also asking to bring the bottom tile out to meet the shower tray, they obviously dont have a scooby doo m8.Furthermore they probably want it done cheap.

My advice to you would be go back and tell them exactly what the boys have told you to do above and say you dont want the job unless its done your way ie.boarding out ,tanking, removal of sanitaryware etc
