Need advice on corner edge of shower seat

Hi, everybody!

I am building a seat which spans the width of one wall of my shower stall. In other words, a ledge, if you will, high enough and deep enough to sit on. This means I will have an outside corner where the horizontal run and the veritcal rise of the ledge meet. Because my tile only comes in standard field and bullnose pieces...no fancy corner pieces...I intend to place a bullnose tile extending beyond the edge of the corner enough to neatly overlap the raw edge of a standard field tile on the other plane and form a nice right angle. But, my question is...does the bullnose tile go on the horizontal plane so the grout line is on the front edge of the seat, or does the bullnose go on the veritcal plane so the grout line is on top?

Or is there an altogether better way to wrap the corner of the seat?

Also, what is the recommended slope on a shower ledge for water drainage? The horizontal depth will be 12 inches.

Hi Stuart,water will fall off your seating arrangement with very little fall,raise the back edge tiles to about 7/8mm.As regards the bullnose trim on the front edge,have this flush with the top set of tiles or( the seat)...therefore there will not be a lip to trap any water and allow the flow over the top and into shower base.Recommended adhesive(presuming seat made of MDF or PLY)Bal Mosaic Fix and Bal superflex wall grout.All 3 edges where the seat meets the tiled walls should be siliconed recommended Bal Microseal......Gaz

I would tank that seat area before you tile it aswell or water will seep through the grout and into the seats substrate and blow the tiles off and agree with gaz on the rest....................dave..
