need help with two awkward situations

Problem 1
kitchen splashback- the worktop runs away from the back wall and at one place it comes away so far that i would need to tile 1 under.How would i stop the tile from slipping down!!!!

Problem 2
i have been asked to tile a hall floor - the floor is flat apart from an entrance to another room where it rises significantly about 6 inches before the door -i know i cannot raise the rest of the floor it is just not practical and it is not quite severe enough for a step!!(the room was previously a garage and now is a living room)

prob 1.....Silicon the gap and allow to set this will support the tiles...


prob 2......you will have to remove the hump/raised area to get it flat........

put a nail in the wall & tile the 2nd tile above the worktop then use tape to hold the bottom one in place
