Hi folks
I've been reading the forum for a while and got some good tips and now the time has come to jump in at the deep end?
I'm not an experiencet tiler but having just completed a 55m2 extension I need to tile the floor (uncalibrated slate 12-18mm). As a good builder with an eye for detail am I going to struggle with the uncalibrated slate? Also my supplier has suggested Norcros thick bed adhesive, does it work as well as Mapei?
Any advice gretefully received

The norcross thick bed isn't one i have used... but i see no reason why it should not do the job..

You will need to grade the slate as best as you can, use the thinner pieces around the perimeter of the room etc and make sure you get a good solid bed.. serrate the floor and back buttering the tiles will help a lot in getting this coverage.

:welcome:Will - as a builder and if this extension is for a client - it may be cost effective for you to get a tiler to do the flooring.
Although Slate is a rustic material, this uncalibrated stone should be laid with its finished surface as flat/not undulating as possble.
It is also a porous product that requires sealing and is often left with a polished finish.
I'am sure that you can find more information within the forum on fixing Slate, but if there are any specific questions just ask away.
