Apologies if this is a stupid question, but what is the difference between getting a dedicated paddle mixer, and just putting a mixer attachment onto a normal power drill??

Reason I ask is that when I have my first bash at tiling, I was just going to use my normal drill to mix the adhesive. Will this be suitable?

Cheers

Because the dedicated mixer has a gearbox with a slower speed and extra strong motor with plenty of torque, much less strain on the electric motor. Also if you mix to fast you will end up with air in the mix and adhesive like blamange with no strength (will set like an Aero)

I am sure too many people on here have seen their normal drill go up in smoke when they decided to use it for mixing

I used to use a drill and paddle untill i bought a dedicated mixer. Get yourself one and you won't regret it and you'll tell the difference straight away when you use it.( at least your back will tell you.)
