Vital Tiling

Could anyone give me some advice on getting tiling work?

I've recently completed a 4 week tiling course at PTS training in Essex, since finishing the course I've tiled a couple of friends & families bathrooms. I'm looking to get work with an experienced tiler or for a contractor, I've been phoning round local tilers & contractors but haven't had any luck as they're looking for experienced tilers.

Any ideas?? Thanks. Simon.

Hi Simon, Welcome to the forum.

The building sites are dead at the moment mate, this has the knock on effect for you beacuse there are an abundence of experienced site work tilers looking for work. Afew others have posted lately who are trying to do the same as you and are struggling.

You've already done what i would have advised and rung round tilers in your area. All i could suggest is that you try further afield. Cant really think of anything else tbh.

Do you not feel confident enough to tackle some work on your own? How did the jobs you've already done turn out, maybe you should bite the bullet, if you've nothing else on then you can take your time on any jobs you get and do a quality job.

From small acorns mighty oak tree's grow and all that

Hi Simon, welcome to the forums if I haven't said so previously. The PTS course should have given you sufficient knowledge to go out and work for yourself (I did the same course 17 months a go). I know a lot of it is confidence and the first time you go out to estimate for a job you will be very nervous, but really, you have all the knowledge you require to make a go of it yourself.

Not saying it is going to be easy to get a foot in the door but it will be far and away the quickest way of gaining experience.

Good luck, keep us informed.
