New to old conrete

Hi All
Going to look at a kitchen tomorrow where the the back end has been knocked through to a new conservatory.
The kitchen is old concrete and the conserv is new will there definatly be a need for a movement joint where the 2 meet

Use an uncoupling membrane then you should be fine..This is what happens if you just tile.

Would the entire floors need doing or could you put the membrane say 1 metre on either side bridging the joint

yes, an expansion joint should be used as its 2 seperate substrates meeting together.

I haver heard of peeps doing this slip method but not tried it myself..

Thinking about it now.When at the Mapei training day at Halesowen last year one of the reps produced a type of fleece and said it could be used to bridge over the area affected.Not all

i have bridged areas like that before kaharrison with a smaller peice rather than doing an entire floor all has been fine
