Hi there,:welcome:

I live in a new flat with concrete floor.

I have decided to scrap the current Porcelanosa ceramic tiled floor to lay electric ufh.

The door and plinths will have to be trimmed to accept the new depth as
it seems that I have no spare depth for insulation, so, should I use a thermal guard paint, or is it a waste of time?

Should I use a 200w mat?

Who makes the best quality product and thermostat?

Any advice would be really appreciated!

I wouldn't recommend thermal guard paint, although it's designed to reflect infrared heat from the electric mat it wont relfect the cold from the concrete floor. All cold areas will attract heat, and insulation is the best way to reduce the amount of heat loss from the floor. The thickness of insulation needed depends on how much heat loss is coming from the windows, is there any other sources of heat (raditors/cooker/boiler) and what the room is used for - a bedroom will need more heat than a utility room.

You can get insulation boards as thin as 6mm.
200W electric mat definately recommended.

Best of luck with your new floor :)
