Hi

I am a plumber and have done a little bit of tiling. However I have just finished a weeks course in wall and floor tiling and will be starting on my bathroom this week. I have ordered the tiles but would like your suggestions on a good tile cutter.

Everyone says Rubi are the best make. I intend to do a fair amount of tiling in my work so want a reasonable but not too expensive one. have also bought porcelain tiles so need a good cutter

Would welcome some suggestions

Look forward to being part of the forum

From my own experiance a Husqvarna TC670 is a brilliant bit of kit.

Generally compared against the Rubi TS60

Husq specs

  • Max cutting depth - 15 mm
  • Max cutting length- 67cm
  • Will cut a 47cm x 47cm tile diagonally
  • Cutting wheel 6mm included
  • Cutting wheel 10mm included
  • Side support included
  • Lateral stop bar included
  • 650KG Breaking Pressure (Rubi TS60 is 400KG)
Prices around £180 inc vat for the Husqvarna and the Rubi is around £185 to £240
Porcelain has never been a problem with this cutter, and uses Rubi cutting wheels too.

That has to be one of the very worst cutters I have ever seen, I took two tilers on a commercial job with me and they both (Uncle and Nephew) had that cutter. It could not cut the tiles straight ie all of them were curved, they tried one of my sigma cutters and now they own one each.
I am not promoting Sigma here but those huskys are a waste of good money imo.
