Hi all great forum some advice please.
35sqys poll porcelin , on concrete, house built 2008, hall kitchen bathroom utillity,
1. how much ady to mix at a time 20kg bags
2. marking out: centre of hall through centre of door to kitchen ok?
3. Grout or silicone or butt to bottom step of stairs , will be carpeted after?
4. 10mm round trowel?
5.What size spacers?

Hi... and welcome..

1: Use a slow flexible set cement based adhesive if not a quick worker.
2: hard to sat without seeing the room layout..
3: Silicone..
4: Sounds ok to me
5: 3mm min..

Try a 10 mm square notched trowel. It gives a deeper bed on rough concrete floors and can help take out small dips in the floor.
A tiler friend once said to me try 1 u won't go back to a half moon trowel. Half moon are good on flat floors. Give it a try smg let me know how u get on.

I would go with a half moon trowel myself as these are designed to give a 100% coverage of adhesive, also I would back butter each tile before laying them into the adhesive bed.

Just to add, if the floor is uneven and you think that you would struggle to get the tiles flat and even with a half moon trowel then you are much better sorting the substrate out before you begin tiling, substrate preparation is soooo important.

I would even go up to a 13mm trowel for a tile that size, even if your floor is perfect!
