hi all,and thankyou for all the friendly greetings, ime back in berlin now after a pretty hectic month in liverpool. with regards to the"european tour"ive been living and working in Germany,Holland,France for over 15 years now, occasionally coming back to the uk to do single jobs.for the last 10 years ive lived on the outskirts of berlin and commuted all over from there,"thanks to easyjet".
life here is quite good, less hectic than the uk,however it has also downsides, food being one of them, king prawn korma, chilli fried beef, english breakfast, sunday dinner.............all only dreams:sad_smile: german food is ok,but different.
you can get a decent pint in the center of berlin but tourist prices make it a bit of a treat...no real betting shops either, however the online possibilitys have saved that situation:) .workwise:up until the end of the 90s really good,on good sites like swimming pools or sand and cement work you could earn 12 to 1500 pounds a week even through the dutch agencies, however after the introduction of the euro,it all went to pot.closely following the euro the law changed which allowed anyone with a trowel onto site, and this had the effect of killing the prices,it has stabilized a bit now,but still dog eat dog.ive been lucky enough to find a niche market were people still pay for and want quality work and this suits me,although it means a lot of travelling...............enough about me for now......if anyone has a comment,or question about living or working in europe..please ask,and i will answer it i can........once again thanks for the welcome greetings........oh yeah, nearly forgot, here is a couple of my tips for newbie tilers........dont turn up on a big site with new tools.........invest wisely in good quality tools an keepem clean.......luv your spirit level.............good luck all..best wishes...chris...actiling
