Newbie Reference Section?

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Just thinking out loud but does anybody else think that an A - Z reference section for new tilers would be a good idea on the forum??

Obviously there is loads of great advice and specific sections throughout the forum, but maybe this new section could only provide guides for specific operations, rather than chit chat and opinions, if you know what I mean.

Like :

A - Anhydrite Screed Preparation (with a step by step guide on what to do)
B - Bonding (guides for various bonding methods)
etc., etc......

Obviously there would be varying methods by different tilers and a new starter could decide which one suites them best:thumbsup:

This way professional tilers with experience could offer pictorial guides of how to carry out certain procedures - just think it would be an invaluable help for a newbie who needs to know but might feel daft asking??

I'm hoping this idea won't get shot down in flames, as I know it would probs create stacks of extra graft for the admin team:lol::lol:

We tried this over a yr ago...but if you think it will work this time then by all means set a thread away and then members can add to it..

Somewhere..i think there was 2 or 3 threads...it was in 2007 i think or maybe early 2008..

The best thing is to use a new format...your sounds like it might work..

How do you think it should be done...are you prepared to set this away and maybe over see it in some way..?

Oli started a reference bible, http://www.tilersforums.com/tiling-forum/13313-all-questions-i-asked-when-i.html. Perhaps you can build on it with pictorials for varying scenarios? Maybe include Daggers wetroom diary and many similar posts? Perhaps TJ or TommyZoom can offer a geometric pictorial walk through, too? I'm sure Gislea (Mosaic Girl) could provide some great content too?

Brave man to offer assistance, I don't know where I would start or where I could find the time to oversee it.

Great idea and I hope you can make it a success.

Many thanks for your support CS and Jay  - Had a look at Oli's and it's really informative :hurray:

Just having a look at how to compile a pictorial reference thread and am beginning to draft an A-Z list.

Any alphabetical input would be appreciated as obviously, as shown in another thread, people do call certain things different names around the world  keep it clean:lol::lol:
