Hello all

I have completed a tiling course and will be looking to go on my own from Feb 08. I am still in full time employment, so I cannot commit myself to large jobs at the moment, and have been pricing up a few smaller jobs I can fit around my current job.
I am having difficulty getting any work in! Is it worth biting the bullet and doing a few really cheap 'mates rates' jobs just to get some experience?
I have a possible bathroom 16m2 wall and 3m2 floor to tile, not sure what to charge for job. Any tips??? This job is for a mate, and will need a showerproofing kit.

Any advice on what rates I should charge and a suggestion for a price to charge for this job??
cheers
Steve

Welcome to the forum Steve.

I'd do mates rates for friends and family but not to the general punter, you'll find it difficult to up your charges if you get known as a cheapo as your word of mouth will be "have him he did mine for XX which was really cheap compared to the others" rather than "have him because he's good".

If you're unsure about prices completely then I'd perhaps consider doing a bit of research in your area by calling tile shops and even any friendly tilers and see what sort of prices you come up with in your area.

Sorry I couldn't be more specific.

Good luck mate.
