Newly plastered walls

Hi, Novice here!
I am having my bathroom walls plastered this week prior to them being tiled. There is going to be a time gap between the plaster being dry enough to tile and the actual tiling taking place.
Is there anything I can use on the bare plaster in the splash areas (round bath, sink, toilet etc.) to "waterproof" the plaster but is not going to cause any problems with the adhesive when it comes round to tiling. Someone told me pva is no good for this
Thanks in advance

What are your walls just now?
Are they solid walls ie brick or block plastered or covered in plasterboard dot & dabbed (dry lined) or stud walls plasterboard onto the wood?

if your walls are currently plaster board and u intend fully tiling them no need to skim walls. i would suggest tanking around bath

hope this helps

They are a mix. One wall is dot and dabbed, one is brick and then plastered, one is a stud wall that is plasterboarded and skimmed and the other is lathe and plaster (right mix I know but it is a Victorian terraced house!)
I'm having it skimmed because there are some lumps missing where original tiles and wood cladding have been removed.

Did the tiler advise the preparation of the walls at estimate stage or did you assume nice plastered walls would help!
