Numbered wall tiles

I'm doing a kitchen splashback today and the tiles are 10 X 10, ceramic with tumbled rough edges. The tiles are numbered 1 to 20 - can any enlighten me why? Also how do u correctly space tiles that dont have square edges?

So you only have 20 tiles to fix ?

Only time I know of numbered tiles has been when they make a certain pattern or picture, and the box should instruct where they should be laid from, ie, number 1 bottom left corner and so on.

i'm laying 400 of the bad boys, but they are all numbered between 1 and 20 on the back. There is no pattern/instructions on the box - i was thinking that you just make sure 1 - 4 aren't together in a quadrat, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16, 17-20 etc.

hmmmmmm. Can you check with the tile store or manufacturer to make doubley sure?

these tiles are numbered ... due to manufacturing ... 1-20 will be the different shapes of the tile mould with them not being regular sqaure tiles...
