Turned up last night to tile a shop floor in cleethorpes. Get there no shop front in ,no space ,floor covered in carpet backing no heating and 1 light. They said can't you tile the boxing in and it will be ready for you:mad2: tiled boxing in and went home.hopefully tonight will be better but not holding my breath.

Yep its amazing what some people expect, I have been booked in for a job for almost 2 weeks now. I get thee this morning to find the plasterer has left bonding or browning plaster as a finish...no thanks...back home !

Luckily only just over an hour from home so travelled it. Any further would have been major standing time involved. Now got to do 4 nights work in 2 nights:mad2:

Mmm, typical shop fitting crew, i really like commercial work ,but with shop fitting everythings just a rush.
The favourite is to leave a tower scaffold in your way!!!
No heating, no lights, i'd have turned round got back in the van and charged whoever you're working for for a wasted day. There's no excuse for that these days.
Good luck tonight, maybe the tower scaffold will be there!!!

I worked with some great shop fitters some time ago......it was the owner that was the pain in the botty.

You have to laugh other wise we would all go mad but I do think some contractors believe that all tilers graduated from Hogwarts and with a few expletives and a wave of our magic levels all their crap preparation will disappear in a cloud of cement dust :smilewinkgrin:
