ok to use tubbed stuff?

Hi guys and gals
customer has chosen 600x300 ASA rectified travertino(apparently they are ceramic) and so i was going to use mapeigrip D1 tubbed addy,my main concern is the size of tile,dont know weight or thickness yet,but will tubbed be ok?its going on to plasterboard.

I would use a powdered adhesive for that size tile

It's the size of the tile, tubbed gear is dispersion and is air drying. Will take a fair time to dry out in the middle to the tile if ever.

Rule of thumb, anything over .300 x .300 use powder gear.

Is it skimmed/unskimmed plasterboard and is it a ceramic or porcelain rectified tile?
Most adhesive manufacturers are stating cement based with an admix for tiles of 1600sq cm (40x40) and you will have a weight issue with 60x30mm tiles onto skimmed plasterboard.

Not as such, it's the size of the tile, tubbed adhesive is a dispersion adhesive, it needs contact with air to set, if the tile size is too great the adhesive towards the centre may never dry out. Bagged adhesive sets by chemical reaction, so size doesn't matter.

They are ceramic tiles and light as a feather...mapei p9 would be my choice..

Also one thing to look out for on these tiles..is that they tend to be bowed in the length..so be careful if brickbond fixing.

Many thanks guys,have read lots on tiling(newbie) but did not know about the drying process,lots still to learn.Thats what is great about this forum i was really uneasy about this job now i feel a lot more confident.
